چکیده

Collaborative communication produces significant (N where N is number of nodes used for collaboration) power gain and overcomes the effect of fading. With imperfect frequency synchronization significant but slightly less than N power can be achieved. As the N increases more power gain can be achieved at the expense of more circuit power. In this paper an energy consumption model for collaborative communication system with imperfect frequency synchronization is proposed. The model to calculate the energy consumed by the sensor network for local communication and communication with base station is presented. Energy efficiency model for collaborative communication for the off-the shell products (CC2420 and AT86RF212) are presented. It is also shown that significant energy can be saved using collaborative communication as compared to traditional SISO (Single input single output) for products. The break-even distance where the energy consumed by SISO and collaborative communication is also calculated. From results it is revealed that collaborative communication using 5 nodes produces efficient energy saving.

Energy efficient collaborative communication with imperfect phase synchronization and Rayleigh fading in wireless sensor networks

Collaborative communication produces high power gain and significantly mitigates the fading if both frequency and phase synchronization are achieved. In this paper, a novel collaborative communication system with imperfect phase synchronization that includes the influence of noise and Rayleigh fading is proposed, modelled, theoretically analyzed and simulated. Mathematical expressions for both ...

An Energy Efficient Clustering Method using Bat Algorithm and Mobile Sink in Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of sensor nodes with limited energy. Energy efficiency is an important issue in WSNs as the sensor nodes are deployed in rugged and non-care areas and consume a lot of energy to send data to the central station or sink if they want to communicate directly with the sink. Recently, the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol is employed as a low-power, low-cost, and low rat...

An Adaptive LEACH-based Clustering Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks

LEACH is the most popular clastering algorithm in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). However, it has two main drawbacks, including random selection of cluster heads, and direct communication of cluster heads with the sink. This paper aims to introduce a new centralized cluster-based routing protocol named LEACH-AEC (LEACH with Adaptive Energy Consumption), which guarantees to generate balanced cl...

An Artificial Bee Colony Inspired Clustering Solution to Prolong Lifetime of Wireless Sensor Networks

It is very difficult and expensive to replace sensor node battery in wireless sensor network in many critical conditions such as bridge supervising, resource exploration in hostile locations, and wildlife safety, etc. The natural choice in such situations is to maximize network lifetime. One such approach is to divide the sensing area of wireless sensor network into clusters to achieve high ene...

Multi-layer Clustering Topology Design in Densely Deployed Wireless Sensor Network using Evolutionary Algorithms

Due to the resource constraint and dynamic parameters, reducing energy consumption became the most important issues of wireless sensor networks topology design. All proposed hierarchy methods cluster a WSN in different cluster layers in one step of evolutionary algorithm usage with complicated parameters which may lead to reducing efficiency and performance. In fact, in WSNs topology, increasin...
